Charles was slave child and the first born child to a slave woman by the name of Fannie (McCarter) Lee
when she was held in captivity in Virginia. Fannie married a unknown man named "McCarter" when sold into Georgia and then marry Joe Lee while sold into Alabama
Charles last name is not known. Fannie was sold to slave owner in Griffin, Georgia and was forced to leave Charles behind.
It has been pass down that Fannie said that she gave Charles one of her two cookies she prepared for her trip to Georgia to stop him from crying. Charles and Fannie was never reunited and never saw each again.
