John Dukes
John Dukes is said the "white" father of James "Jim" Tait and he is the grandfather of Hettie Irene Tait and her sibling.There was some oral history that was passed down to suggest that "John" Dukes was James "Jim" Tait real father. Research has not clearly confirmed that oral history. There was a family of Dukes living in the area during time and they were "white" by race with the father of name of A.G. Dukes. This father had two sons by the names of Frank and Willie Dukes, and one of those two sons may be "Jim" Tait father. Oral history did mention that "Old Man" Dukes had two boys. We know that those two Dukes boys wasn't Bo and Luke Dukes. Continued research is in progress to determine which (if any) of those two boys is James "Jim" Tait father.
