Theola Preyear

Theola is the first born child of Roberta Marshall Ridgill and Charles David Ridgill, Sr. he was born June 8, 1914 in Atmore, Alabama. As a young child, Theola lived in Wheeling, West Virginia with her mother and siblings (Charles David, Jr. (CD) and George). After her father's death, Theola, along with her mother and siblings moved to Burnt Corn, Alabama to live with George and Nellie Marshall. At the time of her father's death, Mother Roberta was expecting her fourth child, and Nellie Mae was born after they returned to Burnt Corn. After a few years, Mother Roberta married Ezell McMillan and moved to Akron, Ohio. However, the Ridgill children remained in Burnt Corn with Grandpa George and Grandma Nellie. Fate (FB) and Dubois were the sons born to the union of Roberta and Ezell. Theola attended schools in Conecuh and Monroe counties. She joined the Bethany Baptist Church.

Theola married Prince Preyer, Sr. on January 28, 1934 in Burnt Corn in the "well kept" yard of her Aunt Irene Tait. She and Prince made their home in Monroeville, Alabama where they became active members of the Morning Star Baptist Church. Together they had 6 children: Prince Jr., Willie (Pat), Charles, Johnny, Ann and Mary Louise. Charles died as a young child. They were always the proudest, most loving and caring parents to their children, grandchildren, great grandchildren and their spouses. Prince and Theola were married for 61 years until he passed away on January 28, 1995
