Rebecca Nash

Rebecca Nash was the sister of S.D. Nash and who was the wife of A. G. Dukes of Burnt Corn who was a farmer and merchant. They had four children two boys and two girls. He had two boys: Frank and Willie and two girls, Bettie who married Robert Moseley and the other one married Johnnie Green. It believed that one of the Dukes boys, Frank or Willie is the father of James (Jim) Tait whose mother was Hettie Tait. of the African-American Marshall/Tait Family.

Oral history passed down a belief that James "Jim" Tait father was a white man and was one of the sons of "Old Man" Dukes (assuming A.G. Dukes) and they believed and pass down that, that son was named "John." However, research has not uncovered a John Dukes in Burnt Corn during that period. Since oral history is adamant that Jim Tait father was "Old Man" Dukes son, if true, it safe to assume that either Frank or Willie Dukes was his father. If true, the question is which one of the "Duke Boys" is the father (Luke or Bow), sorry, I mean Frank or Willie.
