Elizabeth Lett Richardson

Elizabeth Lett is a cousin to Hettie Irene (Tait) Watson. Elizabeth gave birth to a child named George Lee Lett that was fathered by Joseph Lee "Joe" Watson. Elizabeth Richardson was born on July 23, 1922, to John Albert Lett and Willie Mae Lett in Burnt Corn, AL. She was one of several children born to this union. Elizabeth accepted Christ as her personal Savior and served Him throughout her lifetime. Elizabeth met and married Ora Richardson, and their union brought about the birth and love of three children. She was a loving mother, and devoted her life her family. As an Insurance Agent, she provided coverage for families throughout Monroe and Conecuh counties for many years.

An active and dutiful Christian, she was a faithful member of the church the Bethany Missionary Baptist Church in Burnt Corn. Working in whatever capacity she was called to, she was the President of the Missionary, served on the Pastor’s Aide and Kitchen Committees, sang in the adult choir and was a member of the Bethlehem Baptist Association and Neighborhood Watch and Burnt Corn Fire Department. “Liz” as she was known, loved her church and family. She believed in her community and enjoyed working in her garden. Until her health limited her outdoor activities, she would often be seen planting and picking throughout her yard.

In the early morning hours, her Savior came and sat beside her. He whispered in the calm of the morning, “Come with me.” She gently took his hand and left behind the woes of this earthly world. She was preceded in death siblings and her two children, Maggie Batchelor and George L. Lett. She leaves to cherish her memories, a loving and devoted daughter, Denise Ware of Monroeville, AL; one sister: Shirley Heard of Cincinnati, OH; a daughter-in-law: Elnora Lett of Tunnel Springs, AL; nine grandchildren: Sharon Rivers and Terry Lett of Huntsville, AL, Jennifer “Meka” Batchelor of Cincinnati, OH, Phyllis (Renay) Murray of Arlington, TX, Telena Wiggins of Birmingham, AL, Troy Batchelor of Burnt Corn, AL, Delia Ware-Tibbs (Rodney) of Roselle, NJ; six sisters-in-law; twenty-one great grandchildren, six great great-grandchildren, a very close friend and 1st cousin: Mattie Grace of Burnt Corn, AL; a friend who was loved in a special way: Woodrow Mosley, who was always there for “Liz” when she called. He took care of her requests and cared for her car; a host of nieces, nephews, other loved relatives and friends, including her “black girl” Odessa and her Sunday morning phone calls from her nephew, Johnny Taite.
